AN UNPRODUCTIVE DAY

Okay... So, my 'To Do' list for today was a mile long. I had every intention on writing a few blog updates, new merchandise  to unpack at Lola's, and finishing up much needed paperwork - among many other tasks. Now, I have realized my first mistake was starting my day off by sending emails.

First email was sent to my friend, and Living Lola Style Guest blogger, KAY HOLSTED.  In return, she sent me an email containing a link. This was not just any link, it was a link to an amazing blog! (I feel the need to call her out, as she is the one who led me down this dangerous path of wasting time.) True, she only sent me one link to a blog she knew I would appreciate. (Thanks, Kay!) However, due to this one simple link, I have completely lost all productivity today.

There really is so much inspiration, creativity and wonderful idea's on the internet - it can easily become overwhelming! How do you sort through all the idea's and decide which idea inspires you? Kay said, " I like to rationalize my endless hours of blog perusal by saying that it is research and inspiration." I love her viewpoint, and its true. Its motivation for the creative minds.

My inspiration journal.
I have a file on my computer with idea's. I also have a journal where I store idea's I find in magazines. Whenever I am thinking of redecorating my bedroom, or setting up a new display at the store, I flip through these images. By the time I start working on my project I have thought about it, been inspired, and have creatively adapted the idea's to fit my own design style. It's fun to go back after my project is completed and see how different it is compared to the photo that originally inspired me.

Here's my suggestion. Start a file of your own. If you are not on Pintrest, join today. Its a terrific way to collect and organize idea's for all aspects of your life. Cut photos out of magazines and glue them into a journal. Post photo's in your medicine cabinet or closet as daily motivation. Keep your favorite idea's in front of you. When you start your project, it will take on a life of its own. You will find by adding your own personal touches, it will become a reflection of your unique style.

So, back to this link Kay sent me. The blog contains so many fresh and original idea's. I love it! I bookmarked the page and will be revisiting it again, soon! I feel her creativity totally represents 'Lola Style'! However, be warned... upon entering Kara Paslay's blog world you may lose all track of time, just as Kay and I have done. Good luck and enjoy the photos of the wonderful creations by Kara!

One of the amazing photo's on Kara's blog.

Now, time for this girl to get back to work!!!
