"It has been said a million times before, but its till true: no one finishes a book the same person as when they started, whether filled with a new understanding of life or just happier for the hours lost in good story... There are few gifts more precious than sharing the love of a good story with someone else."

And we, at Lola's, agree!
World
Book Night is organized to spread the love of reading and books. The goal is to
see tens of thousands of people share books with others in their communities across
America and to spread the joy and love of reading on April 23, 2012... 6,000
towns and cities to be exact!
Successfully
launched in the U.K. in 2011, this year will be the first Book Night in the United
States! World Book Night is non-profit organization and is a combined effort of
America’s book community: authors, agents, publishers, librarians, distributors,
shipping companies, printers, paper mills, and book stores across the U.S. One
such location is Lola’s, a retail book and gift store, located downtown Morris,
IL.
Lola's
is honored to be selected as one of the official Book Giver locations. The store
is thrilled to offer the community a chance to participate in this national program!
While supplies last, make ANY purchase at Lola's and you will receive a FREE book. All that
is asked in exchange for the free book is once you are done reading the book; you
pass it along to another person - asking them to do the same once they have
finished the book. Together, we can inspire our community and those across the United
States to rediscover their passion for reading!
A
panel selected thirty titles to be included in this event, and a million
combined copies of World Book Night editions have been printed. Lola’s has two
World Book night selections available. The Glass Castle and A Reliable Wife. “The
Glass Castle is personally one of my favorite books. It’s a remarkable true
story of an unbelievable childhood. It truly shows we can weather any type of upbringing
and determine our own course to become whoever we want to be when we grow up.” says
Stacey Olson, owner of Lola’s.
The Glass Castle
by Jeanette Walls
The Glass Castle is a remarkable memoir of resilience and redemption, and a revelatory look into a family at once deeply dysfunctional and uniquely vibrant. When sober, Jeannette’s brilliant and charismatic father captured his children’s imagination, teaching them physics, geology, and how to embrace life fearlessly. But when he drank, he was dishonest and destructive. Her mother was a free spirit who abhorred the idea of domesticity, and didn’t want the responsibility of raising a family.
A Reliable Wife
by Robert Goolrick
by Robert Goolrick
With over 900,000 copies in print, Robert Goolrick’s #1 New York Times bestselling novel A Reliable Wife is a riveting historical story of love, madness, and obsession that tells the story of Ralph Truitt, a wealthy businessman who advertises for “a reliable wife”; Catherine Land, the deceptive woman who responds; and Antonio Moretti, Truitt’s bastard son. Lushly romantic, yet dark and mysterious, this intoxicating debut—which moves from Wisconsin to Italy to Chicago and to St. Louis—is a classic tale of suspenseful seduction, played out in a world that seems to have gone temporarily off its axis.
